How a Good Relationship with Parents Helps a Student Succeed?

It is often said that parents are the first teachers for a child. While this is true, in this generation its impact on a relationship between both is paramount. In this highly competitive world, not all parents can take out time for their kids. Being too busy with their day jobs, most parents cannot even see their kids. They have to leave them at day-care owners or babysitters.

Because of this, children do not get support and cannot establish the foundation of the relationship. It is also possible that they may fall behind in developing excellent communication skills. If they are not comfortable speaking before their parents, they might hesitate more. Considering all these factors, it becomes essential to make parents an inseparable part of a child’s initial years. Be it at home while playing or practicing what they learned at school.

By having dinner together or sitting close with them while doing homework, the parents can be a part of their learning. Apart from that, they can attend their playtime together. With this, from a small age, they will learn team building, leadership, and motivation skills.

Benefits of Having a Good Relationship with Parents for Students:

The first benefit that a student can gain from a good relationship with their parents is the art of communication. When a child shares more with his parents and takes their help in his studies, they know how to open up to someone. There are also more chances that they would be soft-spoken and respectful. Further, in the future, these qualities can help a student network better and gain practical skills related to their field of interest.

With many research studies, we find that the students who have a good relationship with their parents have a better emotional quotient. The outdated belief that only IQ matters is long discarded. Everyone knows today how managing emotions and stress is important. Hence, for the students closer to their parents, they will manage their emotions well.

Also, when parents are always behind their kids, they can be wonderful guides and mentors for them. The importance of a mentor in today’s world can is not one to ignore. When the child grows up and has to take tough career or life decisions, the parents can be there to support and guide. More often than not, we cannot see the benefits and disadvantages of everything. In such circumstances, letting someone who truly cares about you do it for you is better. Others might have vested interest in an effort for help, but parents cannot.

Hence, it is always better that parents realize their roles in the child’s life. Understanding that they can help their kids reach greater heights is crucial in becoming their partners. Parents cannot accompany their children in all spheres of studies. Therefore, teachers are there. But, at home, they can act as their catalyst. A growth catalyst that helps them improve their emotional understanding and communication skills. This will help them to move towards holistic growth and not partial.
